Salman's Long Search

The Story

Long ago in Persia, there lived a boy named Ruzbah. His family followed the old religion of their land and kept a fire burning day and night. Ruzbah's job was to make sure it never went out. But he often wondered. Who made the sun, the sky, and me?

One day, Ruzbah passed a place where people were praying to the One who made everything. He stopped and listened. Something in his heart told him to learn more, even if it meant leaving the only home he had ever known.

Ruzbah began a long journey. He travelled from place to place, searching for people who worshipped Allah. He learned from good teachers, and each one sent him on to another who could help him keep searching.

At last, one teacher gave Ruzbah wonderful news. A prophet would soon appear in a land filled with date palms. He told Ruzbah what signs to look for. Ruzbah's heart filled with hope. He had to keep searching.

But the journey was long and hard. Ruzbah travelled far from home, to Madinah, a city filled with date palms. There, he finally met Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He looked for every sign his teacher had described. One by one, they were all true. After a whole lifetime of searching, he had found the Prophet at last.

Ruzbah became known as Salman al-Farsi, which means Salman the Persian. He stayed close to the Prophet ﷺ and grew so beloved that the Prophet called him one of his own family. The boy who searched so far from home had found the truth, a home, and a family. Allah leads sincere hearts to the truth.

Dua of the Week: Ihdinas-Siratal-Mustaqim — the Dua for Guidance

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqeem

"Guide us to the straight path."

The same words we say in every prayer — asking Allah to guide us, just as He guided Salman to the truth he searched for.

Quran Verse: Surah Al-Ankabut 29:69

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا

"And those who strive for Us — We will surely guide them to Our ways."

Family Discussion
