The Boy Everyone Trusted
Week 1 • Prophet Muhammad ﷺ • Makkah
The Story
Long before Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received any message from Allah, he was just a boy growing up in the city of Makkah. He didn't have a lot. His father had passed away before he was born, and his mother passed away when he was only six. But even as a young boy, people noticed something different about him.
He never told a lie. Not even a small one. If someone asked him a question, he gave them the truth — even when it was hard. If he found something that wasn't his, he returned it. If he made a promise, he kept it. Every single time.
As he grew older, people in Makkah started calling him by a special name: Al-Amin — "The Trustworthy One." It wasn't a name his family gave him. The whole city gave him that name because everyone — young and old, rich and poor — knew they could trust him.
People would leave their most valuable things with him for safekeeping. Gold, money, important belongings — they gave it all to Muhammad ﷺ because they knew he would never take what wasn't his. He was like a walking safe that everyone believed in.
One day, the leaders of Makkah were arguing. They were rebuilding the Ka'bah, and each tribe wanted the honor of placing the sacred Black Stone back in its spot. They argued for days. Finally someone said: "Let the next person who walks through that gate decide." And who walked in? Muhammad ﷺ. They all smiled. "Al-Amin! We trust him."
He placed the Black Stone on a cloth and asked each tribe to hold a corner and carry it together. Everyone shared the honor. No fighting. No anger. Just wisdom from a young man who earned trust — not by being the strongest or the richest — but by being honest. Every single day.
Dua of the Week: Dua for Courage and Ease
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي
Rabbi ishrah li sadri wa yassir li amri
"My Lord, expand my chest and make my task easy for me."
This is the dua of Prophet Musa — when Allah gave him a big task, Musa asked for courage and ease. When we want to be honest — especially when it's hard — we can ask Allah to give us the strength to say the right thing.
Quran Verse: Surah An-Nahl 16:105
إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِي الْكَذِبَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
"Only those invent falsehood who do not believe."
Family Discussion
The people of Makkah called him Al-Amin because he was honest every single day — not just on special days. What does it mean to be trustworthy? Can you think of a time when telling the truth was really hard?
Good Deed Challenge
This week, be like Al-Amin. Tell the truth — even when it's a little scary. If you break something, say so. If someone asks you a hard question, answer honestly. And if you find something that isn't yours, return it.
