The Road Closes

The Story

Hussain and his family continued along the road.

Al-Hurr's horsemen stayed close beside them.

They would not let Hussain enter Kufa or turn back toward Madinah.

They followed a side road until a new order reached al-Hurr.

Hussain and his group had to stop on open land, far from any village or shelter.

This was not where Hussain had chosen to stay.

They stopped near Naynawa, in the land called Karbala.

The ground was wide, dry, and bare.

Here, their journey was forced to end.

Hussain spoke against being forced to stop.

But he would not be the one to begin a fight.

Instead, he focused on caring for his family and companions.

Together, the family and companions began setting up camp.

They raised their tents across the open plain.

Side by side, they prepared to stay in a place they had not chosen.

There was no village or shelter nearby.

But Hussain stayed close to those with him, and they faced the hardship together.

Whatever came next, they would meet it with steadiness. 🌙
