🌙 The Night Everything Is Quiet

Tonight's Story

Have you ever woken up when it's still dark outside — so dark that the stars are still shining? During Ramadan, something magical happens in Muslim homes all around the world before the sun comes up. It's called suhoor.

While the rest of the world sleeps, your family wakes up together. The kitchen light flickers on. Someone warms up bread. Someone pours water. You might hear a spoon stirring, a kettle whistling, or Baba whispering Bismillah. It's the quietest, cosiest meal of the day.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told us: "Have suhoor, for in suhoor there is blessing." Even if it's just a sip of water and a few dates — that small meal before fajr is full of barakah. Allah puts something special in it because you woke up for Him.

Think about it — millions of Muslim families, in every country, on every continent, are all awake at the same quiet hour, eating together, preparing to fast for Allah. You are part of something so much bigger than your kitchen table.

Sometimes you feel sleepy. Sometimes the food doesn't taste as good at 4 in the morning. But there's something beautiful about sitting with your family in the still, quiet darkness — knowing that you're doing this together, for Allah.

And then comes the moment — the adhan for fajr. Everyone stops eating. The fast begins. The house goes quiet again. But this time, you're not just sleeping. You're fasting. You chose to wake up, eat, and begin your day with Allah. That's what makes Ramadan mornings so special.

Dua of the Night: Dua Before Eating

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ

Bismillahi wa 'ala barakatillah

"In the name of Allah and with the blessings of Allah"

We say this before eating any meal — but saying it at suhoor feels extra special. You're eating in the quiet dark, knowing Allah is watching and putting barakah in every bite.
