Tonight's Story
Somewhere in these last ten nights of Ramadan, there is one night that is more special than any other night in the whole year. It's called Laylatul Qadr — the Night of Power. And Allah says it is better than one thousand months.
How long is one thousand months? That's more than 83 years! That's longer than most people's entire lives. One single night — worth more than a whole lifetime. Can you imagine?
On this night, the angels come down from the heavens. So many angels that they fill the earth. And with them comes peace — a deep, beautiful peace that stays until the sun rises.
This was the same night the Quran first came down — the night Angel Jibreel appeared in the cave and said "Read!" Every year, that night comes back, hidden somewhere in the last ten nights of Ramadan, waiting for us.
The Prophet ﷺ used to search for this night every Ramadan. He didn't know exactly which night it was — and that's part of the beauty. Allah wants us to try our best on all of these nights. Every prayer, every dua, every good deed in these nights could land on Laylatul Qadr.
Tonight could be that night. Right now. The angels might be all around you. So before you close your eyes, make a dua — a really special one. Ask Allah for something from your heart. Because on Laylatul Qadr, every single dua matters.
Dua of the Night: Dua for Laylatul Qadr
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni
"O Allah, You are the One who forgives, and You love to forgive, so forgive me"
The Prophet ﷺ taught this dua for the last nights of Ramadan. It's short, simple, and powerful. You don't need big words to talk to Allah. Just this one sentence — said with a sincere heart — is enough.
